Agua Dulce Skatepark Groundbreak

El Paso County officially launched a renovation project at Agua Dulce Skatepark.

These improvements are part of the county’s 2021 Parks Master Plan, reflecting a commitment to enhancing recreational facilities and addressing community needs. The renovations, expected to be completed by April 2025, will replace the aging wood and metal skatepark with more durable materials. The upgraded park will feature a new grind ledge, flat rail, quarter pipe, A-frame, pyramid combo, and a hipped bank. Additionally, a neighboring basketball court will also see renovations.

The skatepark project is partially funded by a Texas Parks and Wildlife Grant awarded to the county in 2021.

“I’m really proud of all the efforts that the county has made to improve our parks, especially here in Agua Dulce,” said County Commissioner Iliana Holguin. “These new amenities—a skatepark and improvements to the basketball court—will make this park an even better place for families to come and spend time together.”

Interim Parks and Recreation Director Tim Fulton echoed this sentiment, noting, “Being near a colonia, this area has historically been underserved in terms of parks and facilities. We’re excited to bring this skatepark to the community soon.

Our BANES team is prepared to tackle this project and continue building our communities.

Socorro School District Unveils $58.9 Million Student Activity Complex II

The Socorro Independent School District celebrated the unveiling of the $59 million SAC II complex with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

This project, part of the 2017 bond approved by the community, includes the construction of the new facility and renovations to nearby schools.

The addition of a second field next to the original SAC eliminates the need for doubleheaders on Friday nights during football season, allowing student-athletes to complete their school day, avoid the summer heat, and enable parents to attend competitions after work.

However, the complex offers more than just athletic opportunities. It will also provide hands-on experiences for students outside of sports.

“Our CTE students will manage the audio and visuals for the events,” said Interim SISD Superintendent James Vasquez. “Our law enforcement will be involved in the emergency operations at the games, giving students real-world experience. This truly benefits all of our students.” The facility also includes a band storage room, a repair area, conference rooms, and a trainer’s room.

The facility was built by our team at Banes General Contractor, a highly regarded firm recognized for its commitment to quality and excellence in construction throughout the region. With a reputation for delivering projects on time and within budget, Banes General Contractor has a track record of successful collaborations that meet the unique needs of the communities we serve. Our expertise in managing complex projects ensures that every detail is meticulously attended to, resulting in a facility that will stand the test of time and serve as a cornerstone for local events and activities.

The field will hosted its first event during the 2024-2025 school year, featuring the Socorro vs. Horizon homecoming game on August 30th.
